PLANNED FOR YOUR PROPERTY

A Grinding Plan Built for the Site

Stump size, root spread and nearby structures all affect how a grinding job is approached. Our crews assess the stump and surrounding area, checking for irrigation lines, hardscape and structures before choosing the right equipment for the job. Smaller stumps in open yards can often be handled quickly, while larger stumps near foundations or utility lines require more careful grinding depth and angle.

What Comes Next

A Clean Space, Ready for What's Next

Once a stump is ground out, the space underneath is often better than it looks. Grinding leaves behind loose soil and wood chips, which can be cleared and amended for new grass, shrubs or a small planting bed. If you're planning to replant in the same spot, let us know ahead of time so we can grind to the right depth.

Tree Removal FAQ

Questions Before Removing a Tree

Clear answers help property owners make a confident, informed decision.

  • How long does stump grinding take?

Most residential stumps can be ground in under an hour, though size, root spread and access affect the timeline. Larger stumps or multiple stumps on one property take longer.

  • How deep do you grind the stump?

We typically grind 6 to 12 inches below grade, which is usually enough to allow replanting or new hardscape. Deeper grinding is available if you're planning construction in that spot.

  • Will the roots keep growing after grinding?

Grinding the stump and major surface roots stops most regrowth, though some species may send up occasional shoots from remaining root material. These can typically be treated or removed as they appear.

  • What happens to the wood chips?

Wood chips and grindings are hauled away as part of the job, or left on-site as mulch if you'd prefer to use them in your landscaping.

  • Can you grind a stump that's been there for years?

Yes. Older, drier stumps often grind faster than freshly cut ones, and we can clear stumps that have been sitting for a long time just as easily as a recent removal.

  • Do you offer stump grinding for commercial properties?

Yes. We grind stumps for homeowners, businesses, HOAs and property managers throughout Southern California, and can coordinate multiple stumps in a single visit.
